The Griffin Catalyst Exhibition: Monet and London
27th Sept 2024 – 19th Jan 2025
Somerset House, The Strand
The Griffin Catalyst Exhibition: Monet and London. Views of the Thames will finally bring to life Monet's unrealised dream of displaying this remarkable collection of paintings in London, just 300 meters from the Savoy Hotel, where many of them were created. By showcasing the paintings that Monet personally chose for his audiences in Paris and London, this exhibition offers visitors a rare chance to experience the show as Monet envisioned it, featuring the works he believed most embodied his artistic vision. This marks the first time in 120 years that these pieces will be reunited since their original exhibition.

Vanessa Bell: A World of Form and Colour
19th October 2024 - 23rd February 2025

Vanessa Bell (1879–1961) was a trailblazing modernist painter and a key figure in the Bloomsbury Group, a collective of prominent English artists, writers, and intellectuals from the early 20th century. This exhibition, her largest solo showcase to date, offers a comprehensive look at her work, featuring drawings, paintings, ceramics, and furniture.

Bell played a leading role in British abstraction and was instrumental in creating opportunities for artists, particularly women, to thrive. She organized the ‘Friday Club’ for artists and co-founded the innovative design group Omega Workshops. Collaboration was central to her creative process, including working with her sister, writer Virginia Woolf, and artist Duncan Grant.

Broadwick Soho, London
New Hotel
Soho, London

In London, where hotels often lean toward grandeur or subtle elegance, Broadwick Soho stands out with two giant elephants in top hats over a red awning in Soho. Designed by Martin Brudnizki, the 57-room hotel is bold, with opulent interiors featuring clashing animal prints, flamingo-pink parrots, and green paneling. Inspired by owner Noel Hayden’s memories of a 1970s Bournemouth hotel, it exudes a lively, vaudeville spirit. The gold-trimmed café-bar spills onto the street, while rooms feature embroidered wallpaper and a brass elephant-shaped minibar. The rooftop bar offers stunning views, and the basement restaurant, Dear Jackie, is sultry and intimate.
